| Comments: | I showed up to try the trivia game that their website was touting. I knew it was a homemade game, which is usually a bad sign. And wouldn't you know it, this place kept the streak of lousy homemade games going.
I have to say that the trivia host was a great guy, though. We arrived a little late and he personally caught us up on the first round's questions so we could compete in the whole game. Imagine John Boehner reading the questions (complete with smoking breaks), and you can picture how the host was. The game was mediocre at best, however. The questions were simply too easy, leading to practically every team getting a good score and forcing drawn out tiebreakers to determine the top-scoring teams. If the questions were harder, the teams would have separated themselves more from each other and there would have been no need for that. It would have helped to have more than four rounds in the game as well. We did pull out a placing in the end, but since we like to be challenged, this wasn't really the game for us. I was impressed with the food, at least. My Cajun Chicken sandwich was moist and spicy and I enjoyed the fries that came with it. Marianne enjoyed her meal of hot dogs and onion rings. Magic Hat was available on special for a good price. Our server was friendly and attentive. Ultimately, even though the food was good, the staff friendly and the trivia tolerable, I won't be able to come back here. Unless the owner actually cares enough about his customers to clean out his HVAC system, so the residual stench from the years of smoking doesn't leave the air in a foul funk, he can stick with his usual habitually-smoking customers who seemed to spend half of the evening out in the back madly puffing away. |
